Dianna, Thanks so very much for the effort. I wonder if her name...spelled today...would have been ELSA? I had a census taker write down one of my great aunts as ELEF. ELEF's dad couldn't read or write, and therefore couldn't spell it for the census officical. The census man just wrote it down like it sounded to him...ELEF...in our good old Southern Ozark Mountain accent. Her name was OLIVE, but it sounded like ELEF when it came out of Dan Sexton's mouth. I read every Buckingham Co., Va., notice/query. My history is tied up in that county...burned records ashes and all. Thanks again. JNRIce +
