Hi, Sorry I did not answer your Metts question. My Metts clan entered SC in 1740 as what they call Palatines - Lutherans that left the Rhineland because the Roman Catholics were in Bavaria on one side and the RC French on the other. Old King Louis of France gave them a choice - the Gallows ot the Galleys. (They paddle boats in the Galleys. They hang out in the Galleys.) Many Palatines came to America. Some came to New York, or Philadelphia, or to new Berne NC. I have found my line, but I do not think they ended up in Virginia. Many other of my ancestors (The Thomas and Howell folk did) (I have proved 41 Rev. ancestors to the SAR. I hold the record.) Please find out who was the father of my Mary Howell, who came from Buckingham County!!!!!
