JeanRose - Please put me on your list of people to help with "look ups" in your Buckingham County Books. I am nearly at a dead end on my research re my father's Buckingham County family - Allens. I have not been able to establish my great grandfather's parents. My grandfather was Noel Jackson Allen (b. 1860, d. 1943, in Buckingham County). His father, my great grandfather, was Simeon Allen (b. 1823?, d. 1910) m. Martha Frances Dunevant. Family tradition and notes from great aunts indicate Simeon was descended from or a nephew of Cap. Richard Allen of Cumberland. I have lots of information about Richard, including that he had a son named Simeon, but Richard would have been about 84 when Simeon was born, so I believe I am missing a link. David, Richard's brother?, lived in Halifax, and in the 1850 census shows a Simeon of about 30 years old living in his household, but I have nothing tangible to connect him. I shall buy some of the Buckingham books, but I don't know where to begin. When you have the time, I would greatly appreciate a "look up!"
