This is Al Metts of San Antonio. This is my first message to your list, but I have been reading the excellent messages. I am researching Jesse Thomas, from Cumberland. He fought at Valley Forge and came home. In about 1779 or 80, he married a lady, MARY HOWELL, and she came from next door in Buckingham County. This lady inherited 5 kids from Jesse's first wife, Sallie Wood, and she gave Jesse 7 more kids! Jesse died in Cumberland on July 2, 1805. A couple of years later, Mary took the family to Nashville. MY PLEA FOR HELP is: Does anyone have a record of the marriage of Jesse Thomas to MARY HOWELL in about 1779 ?? Does anyone know who her father was or anything else about this great lady? Please!
