Jean - Thanks for the excellent "tidbit" from "Land Tax Summaries." A couple of interesting facts put this in a different light. First, Simeon and Martha married around 1860, continued having children until 1880 or so. Martha was a "Dunevant" although I have seen various different spellings, including Dunnivant. I wonder if the trustee had to act in her behalf because of some other restriction. Perhaps Simeon, who was in the Civil War, was away, captured, disabled, or disqualified to buy land?
