Hi Margaret, I have Buckingham FITZGERALD's.. Mine were Rev War William Fitzgerald who married first (forgot..maybe it was Sarah Epps.) and had 6 children. After his wife died and his first love's second husband died the two of them got back together and married on Christmas Eve (she also then had 6 kids from her two marriages); a double marriage with one of his kids marrying one of her kids the same time as their own marriage. His second wife was Catherine (sometimes shown with a K) (nee) Crawley ( can't remember hubby #1 right now) Jones. I believe 3 of his kids eventually married 3 of her kids. My ancestors were one of those pairs Francis Fitzgerald married Francis Jones. This part of the story was in Nottoway, before Buckingham was their home. In that line a Fitzgerald boy, James Henderson Fitzgerald, who became Reverend and was pastor of the Mayesville Presby in B'ham married a daughter of Church Elder Rolfe Eldridge, Jr....Lucy Eldridge. (Direct descendant of Pocahontas and John Rolfe) Her grandpa was a Buckingham Rev War veteran also, Benjamin Moseley.the first to be buried at Rolfeton in B'ham. That was 1799 , the same year Geo Washington died. OK..on with my Fitz. James and Lucy had 4 children in B'ham; 2 boys and 2 girls. Neither of the girls had any children. One died as a young adult and one lived in a home.(mental??)..I'm not sure why, but was unable to care for herself. The 2 boys both had children. My line was thru the son named (another....) Francis Fitzgerald. (The other son was J. H. Jr) Francis married Mary Hill from Albemarle Co. They had lots of kids in Buckingham...the old home place still stands (tiny for all the kids...two story, slate roof) One of those Fitzgerald kids was my Grandma, Fanny Fitzgerald who moved to Prince Edward County when she married (age 18 I think) and old geezer who was petty well off. Alexander E. Cralle. He (G'Pa)died a couple years before I was born in PE County....while living at G'Ma Cralle's house there. Two of the boys lived downstairs each with wife and kids and G'Ma lived upstairs. G'Ma's sister, lived on in B'ham, never married, taught school and was very active in the Mayesville Church. their Historian I believe. Aunt Carrie Fitzgerald. Anyone sound like a connection with your Fitzgerald's? Srely must be a connection there somewhere? Jane A Virginian living in Florida In a message dated 7/11/2006 11:29:07 A.M. My dad's family is from Dillwyn, Buckingham County, Virginia. His parents were Radford Bennett Ranson and Nora Estelle Fitzgerald. I've been able to get some info on the Ranson line, but very little on Fitzgerald beyond my great grandfather Emmett Washington Fitzgerald. Do you have any info Fitzgeralds or Ransons? Thanks in advance. Margaret Ranson Mader Alexandria, KY
