    3. How does one go about finding a store that was in existence in the 1870's, (and later), in Buckingham County? "Pankey's Store" in the 1870's, and may have been located in what is known as Arvonia today. Is Arvonia in Buckingham, or Appomattox County? The Pankey's owned land in Buckingham, which was annexed into Appomattox 1845. Would love to find where the location of the store was, and which Pankey was the original owner. Thank you, Rose Schutte Seay

    3. Rose, In a book called "Genealogical Records of Buckingham Co., Virginia", by Buck, on pages 133-135 is in part written... "In 1930 while searching for the graves of Claiborne West and wife Betty Ann Woodson (Epperson), the author found Mr. Irving Davie living in the old Claiborne West home. In his possession was an old account book for the years 1802-1803, kept by John Epperson at his tobacco warehouse and general store on the Appomattox River, Buckingham County, Virginia, at the place of settlement called Planterstown. (4 sentences omitted). Mr. Irving Davie allowed the author to make a copy of the old book, which is quite lengthy and carried a number of duplications of names. In order to save space the author has copied only those names shown in the book." Among the names on these 3 pages are Abner Seay and William Seay. I do not see any Pankey, but there is John Palmer, James Parker, N. Patterson, and George Perkins. In total there are approximately 200 names listed. I realize this store was in existence earlier than you'd asked for, but I thought it may help you since I see your last name is Seay.
