That is what it is called even today. In 1818 a town by the name of Maysville was established. Before it was called Maysville, the area was called Greensville. Three years later there was a decision to build a courthouse. The building was completed in 1833. In 1869 it burned. It was rebuilt similar in size and style to the old one. At some point the name of the village was changed from Maysville. If you have a record saying Jacob DUNCAN lived in Buckingham Courthouse, I think it means the village and not the building.
