Carl Rosen: Ref Stephen Brown There are 7 Stephen Browns listed in the DAR Patriot Index, none of which were born in Virginia. One Stephen Brown was in Lunenburg Co. VA about 1782 I do not find Stephen among the marriages of B'ham Co. which survived. He is not found in the 1810 thru the 1830 censuses of B'ham Co. nor in the still extant voting rolls altho one book listed a Stephen Brown who was on the 1800 Tax list in Dist. No. two, Josias Jones, Commissioner. Another place in the book lists a Stephen Brown b. lca 1756 in Cumberland Co. Va and d. by 31 Aug 1837 - lived in B'ham during the Rev. and served in the Va. Militia - moved to Bledsoe Co. Tenn about 30 years after the war. - and you have his pension papers. He may have been in the tax lists, but I don't have those. I just don't find anything else about him. Sorry.
