Some months ago we discussed an Apperson Bible record that Marsha Moses found and shared with the List. While searching in Jones Memorial Library in Lynchburg last week, I came across a better copy of this Bible record, which clarified some of the information. To my amazement, the Bible had been passed down through some of my Kern(s) relatives and deposited there by them. The Call # for the Bible Record is: "Harris-Apperson-Kern Bible Record FF3318." Here are the corrections and/or additions that I noted from the Bible record: The date of birth for Sarah Noel Guthrie, who married James Apperson, was Jan. 28, 1786 and not June 4. The birthdate for her husband, James Apperson, was July 19, 1783. William N. Apperson was married on Dec. 21, 1831, but it does not state the name of bride (He did not marry Rebecca J. England, as previously believed). Samuel W. Harris was born on Nov. 7, 1795 and died on April 22, 1864. He was husband of Nancy W. Apperson. Rebecca J. Apperson, born on Sept. 24, 1815, married a Mr. England on Dec. 21, 1831. (She did not marry William N. Apperson, who happened to be her brother.) Malinda L. Apperson, born on June 25, 1817, married a Mr. Hill on Feb. 17, 1836. Sometimes old Bible records are difficult to read and two people may easily come up with different conclusions. Wilmer L. Kerns
