I am a descendant of George Hooper, nephew of Joseph Hooper, and I am somehow not comfortable with the thesis that Joanna Stinson was the daughter of Joseph Hooper. In his will, Joseph Hooper never refers to her as his daughter although he is careful to refer to George Hooper as "my nephew" and to Elizabeth as "my wife" and to Henry Trent as "my son-in-law". There is the possibility that Joanna Stinson was a cousin or a niece since Joseph Hooper's grandmother was "Joanna Hooper". Joseph Hooper had Virginia cousins in the Cabell and Mayo families who shared a descendancy from Joanna Hooper. There is also the possibility, perhaps more remote, that she was the daughter of wife Elizabeth by a previous marriage. Marilyn Symonds
