HI All , I have been meaning to do this for some time and just never made the time..last night I decided to get at least some of it together.. I am not sure how many on the list know to what extent the really old newspapers of Va. have been preserved ..I know I did not until I found death of ggggrandfather in newspaper...ironically in the same paper on the front page was a suit naming him and others in Buckingham Co...there were several suits that had to be posted in Richmond paper...the names I am sending today were what I could read from the front page of the ViriginIA Argus..published in April of 1807. I thought I would at least send the names as someone just might be looking for these folks. Court record FEb. court 1807 JOHN WESLEY GREEN, ELIZABETH GREEN, HENRY GREEN infant , all children and legal representives of GREENBERRY GREEN deceased against CARONHAPPOCK(this was a first name :) CHANDLER, widow and relict of ISSAC CHANDLER deceased,AGNES CHANDLER, SUSANNA CHANDLER, ISSAC CHANDLER,THOMAS CHANDLER,PATSY CHANDLER, and CARONHAPPOCK(THAT NAME AGAIN) CHANDLER, children and legal representives of ISSAC CHANDLER deceased....in suit it mentions that the CHANDLER group are no longer inhabitants of the Commonwealth. Jan court 1807 ARCHIBALD AUSTIN against CHARLES MATTHEWS, WALTER IRVINE(my ggggrandfather), JOHN IRVINE , SAMUEL BRANSFORD. In this one MATTHEWS has moved from area Feb 1807 court JOHN CLARKE , NANCY CLARKhis wife , late NANCY WILLIAMSON, DR. LETSON BIRD , SUSANNA BIRD lateSUSANNA WILLIAMSON, JOHN GRIFFIN , SALLY GRIFFIN his wife , lateSALLY WILLIAMSON, PETTERSON FHEAT?? & ELIZABETH his wife, late ELIZABETH WILLIAMSON, PETER WILLIAMSON, WILLIAM WILLIAMSON, PATSY WILLIAMSON, POLLY WILLIAMSON, (another)WILLIAM WILLIAMSON, son of CHARLES WILLIAMSON,deceased who was the son of MICAJAH WILLIAMSON deceased,...all except the younger WILLIAM(son of CHARLES) are specifically named as the children of MICAJAH WILLIAMSON deceased. The WILLIAMSON group were no longer living in the Commonwealth (thus the notice in paper) There was also another column on the front page but I only could read a little bit of it..will look to see if I have better copy...THOMAS WRIGHT JR. was the only name I could make out...the only reason I knew it was Buckingham was that R. ELDRIDGE JR. registered it as Deputy Clerk as he had done the others.
