Is anyone familiar with the Buckingham County, 1764, 1773, and 1774 titheables lists? My Carters I am working on are listed below. I am especially working on Bailey Carter. In 1774 he is listed as: 1774 Asoph Walker (Bailey Carter) 3 tithes John Carter (Huddleston Carter) 2 tithes Does anyone know why some names are in parenthesis? Does that mean something special? Does this mean Bailey was not in the area, and Asoph Walker was reporting for Bailey, or was Bailey possibly an overseerer for Asoph? Or living with him?? Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. thanks, Kathy Wells. 1764 Bailey Carter 1 tithe Joseph Carter 1 tithe and 100 acres George Carter 1 tithe (Joseph & George were next to each other, Bailey is about 5 people down) 1773 George Carter 2 tithes Joseph Carter 2 tithes Stephen Carter 1 tithe (George, Joseph & Stephen are next to each other, no sign of Bailey) 1774 Asoph Walker (Bailey Carter) 3 tithes John Carter (Huddleston Carter) 2 tithes George Carter 1 tithe Joseph Carter 1 tithe Stephen Carter 1 tithe
