Stinson, s/o Archibald and Elizabeth Stinson was born 13 Sept 1821, prob. Buckingham Co., VA; married 15 Dec 1842, Mary Jane Watson, born 1823. Joseph was an overseer on the Algona Farm in Buckingham Co., VA. Their children were: Elizabeth A., b. abt. 1843; Thomas H., b. abt. 1845; Elizabeth Fannie, b. abt. 1845; Ann E., b. abt. 1848; George W., b. abt. 1849; Joseph S., b. abt. 1852; Winfield S., b. abt. 1854; Mary J. b. abt. 1856; Maria B. abt. 1858; John W., b. abt. 1860; William Archer, b. 20 Sept 1861, md., Mattie Spencer; Robert E. Lee, b. abt. 1864 (made a career in the Army and had son Leslie Stinson who lived in Philadelphia, PA in 1973).

    3. Carol: Since the Stinsons you emailed about are those of my h usband's, I'm wondering whether or not you ran into our family group sheet which perhaps somebody else gave to you. No matter. Just want to note that AlgoNa and AlgoMa are not the same. AlgoMa was a 3-story home (and possibly with the land) that a Thomas Stinson, as a carpenter I believe helped to build in the central northwest part of Buckingham Co. My husband and I went thru Algoma before they tore it down. There were more than one Thomas Stinsons. The Stinsons were not the owners. A Stinson was an overseer at Algoma. AlgoNa is a place (not near AlgoMa) west of the courthouse just off Hwy 60 and not far from Mount Rush. If I am not correct, I would appreciate it if some one would correct me. I am not a a B'ham native.
