    3. Sheila, Thanks for pointing out the Apperson envelope for sale at ebay. I hope someone can make some use of it. I can only say that it does appear to me to read "Apperson". However, your suggestion that your message regarding it not being posted is false. Your message appears both on the APPERSON message board (http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ZGB.2ACEB/110), and in the archives of APPERSON-L (http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/APPERSON/2006-08/1156664183), the latter being posted some 36 hours prior to your message (see below) regarding same to VABUCKIN-L. The names Epperson and Apperson are both derivatives of the Danish patronymic name for the relatively common Danish given name of Jesper...i.e., JESPERSEN (note that the "J" is pronounced like a "Y"). Names like "Jesper Jespersen" can be found in Denmark at least as early as the 1550s. The early American records for this family will mostly be written as Apperson, Aperson, Epperson, Eppeson, Eperson, and Epecen. The same name has been derivatized to the more Germanic form JASPERSEN in places like Schleswig-Holstein (now part of Germany, but once part of Denmark). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know of the auction and also ask if Epperson and Apperson are considered the same family? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? 3. Hello Gregg- I'm not sure how you ended up with part of a message I sent only to Ruby, but thank you for your response regardless. I checked several times to find my posted message (even under my name as author) and couldn't find it. But I'm glad they decided to let it in - I was rather excited to see the name on the envelope and at second glance I wasn't sure I had read it correctly. Rootsweb pulled a posting of mine once when I pointed out a family bible for sale on ebay that I knew would be of great interest to several people belonging to another county group. Thank you also for the name history. Where does one go to learn such things? I will save what you wrote. 3. If anyone has any pictures of the following families and would be willing to share a copy, I would be very interested in these: Edmund L. and Rebecca J. (Apperson) England David and Mary Jane (Thomas) Harris Alexander Benjamin and Willie Ann (England) Harris Samuel H. and Elmira W. (Smith) Duncan Matthias and Sarah (Dunkum) Duncan William Henry and Eliza Jane (Duncan) Duncan At some point, I know that I have seen a picture of Willie Ann Harris and another one of Eliza Jane Duncan and I am trying to locate those but I would love to have copies of any photo showing any of these family members. These are my Buckingham County roots! Thank you! Dave Duncan Ohio __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
