Surety was John Lunsford and witness was Sterling G. Apperson. It was stated that Rebecca was daughter of James Apperson. The minister's return (Rev Joshua Leigh) shows that they were married on 21 Dec 1831. Their children were: Robert J. 1833, John L. 1835, Edmund E. 1838, Mary E. 1841, Benjamin M. 1844, Willie Anna 1846, Isaiah 1849, William I. 1851 and Sarah Frances 1852. Ruby Talley Smith

Hi Ruby- I see your name quite often and always appreciate your input - the Spencer line is my pursuit, with interest in the Epperson family too. Last week I placed an inquiry into the Apperson group on Rootsweb asking for help with the name on an envelope being auctioned on Ebay. The name looked like Apperson to me, but the old writing style is difficult to decipher sometimes. The envelope was early 1800's. I later received an email saying that my email was being held for review because I wasn't a member of that group - now I see they did not post it at all. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know of the auction and also ask if Epperson and Apperson are considered the same family?
