Bowman, 73, died at his residence near Rice on Sunday Nov 21, 1971. Born Feb 13, 1891 in Patrick County, he was the son of the late Hilary and Linnie Hubbard Bowman and the husband of the late Mary L. Bowman. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs Lillian Duncan of Columbia, Mrs Jocie Berry of Richmond, Mrs Della Murray, Mrs Lucy Thompson and Mrs Florence Miles, all of Rice; five sons, James W. Bowman of Green Bay, Genel R. Bowman of Farmville, Corbett L., Acie G., and Riley D. all of Rice; three sisters, Mrs Clara Peterson of Roanoke, Mrs Mary Chandler of Pilot Mountain, NC and Mrs Maybelle Dove of Green Bay; and two brothers, William C. Bowman of Green Bay and Sampson L. Bowman of Rice. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 pm in the Chapel of Shorter Funeral Home with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens, near Rice.
