Those Toney's are so hard to track down!!! My great grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Toney, daughter of Charles T. Toney and his wife Martha. I've researched this group as much as I can. When Charles died, this two children were living with their guardian John M. Toney who I believe is Charles' brother. His (John's) marriage record indicates that he is the son of Charles and Elizabeth Toney. The land tax records show that Charles T. and John M. each received an equal share of the estate of John Toney, son of John Toney. So I can't figure them out. I've also been trying to figure out who Martha was. She died before 1850, probably about 1849. In 1850 Charles T. Toney has in his household a Mary Johnson who is old enough to be his or Martha's mother. There is also an Elizabeth - an I can't remember her surname - but she appears to the the right age to be Charles' or Martha's sister. So this is where I stand on my Nuckols/Snoddy/Toney/Agee roots. I'm due a trip to Buckingham soon. I also have Camden roots there. Charles Cardwell Camden was my great grandfather.
