Apperson who was witness would have been a brother to both Nancy and Rebecca Yes his full name was Sterling Guthrie APPERSON. He was born 18 Feb 1812 and on 9 Aug 1834 he married Eliza NEWTON, of "my NEWTONs". She was d/o William NEWTON Jr & Edna TAYLOR. Our common ancestor was William NEWTON Sr & Frances HARRIS. There are a plethora of records on Sterling Guthrie APPERSON. He was always doing something to generate a record, good or bad. If all of my ancestors had done the same I would know a lot more about them. Ruby

    2. Hi Ruby: I think I may have som info for you back in FL...I'll be able to look it up for you maybe mid-September [if you remind me then]. It has to do with the Sterling Newton or Newton Sterling who was a Doctor. I can't bring it all to mind, but there is some good info there if you are interested. 3. I am guessing that you mean Sterling Newton rather than Newton Sterling. Sterling seems to have been a very popular name among the Appersons and the Harris lines that I look at. James Apperson and his wife Sarah (Sallie) Noell Guthrie Apperson name one of their sons Sterling Guthrie Apperson and he marries Eliza Newton. They name their son Sterling Newton Apperson. Another one of the grandsons of James and Sallie Apperson was named Samuel Sterling Harris. I have looked in my data base and don't find who the original Sterling was....but the name was used a lot.
