Also in this household was Samuel Spencer, age 21. I can identify this Samuel Spencer as the son of John R. Spencer. You also noted from Roger Ward's book that John R. Spencer sold land that was part of Samuel Robertson's estate. I'm thinking that perhaps John R. Spencer's wife Elizabeth was a Robertson. John R. Spencer, son of Capt. William Spencer of Buckingham County, was born about 1808, married about 1835 to Elizabeth H. ___. Their children were named William J., Samuel T., Jane, Mary J., John B., Martha E., and Sophia W. John R. Spencer's sister Martha married Thomas Robertson, son of Hugh and Susannah (Ligon) Robertson. Capt. William's estate was also distributed to wives of Archer T. Robertson and James A. Robertson, who were probably his granddaughters by a deceased, unknown son. These Spencers seem to have been extremely closely involved with the Robertsons, and that might give you a clue as to how your Samuel is related to the other Robertsons that the Spencers are related to. I hope this helps. Please let me know if your figure out anything." Alice
