He married Sarah MADDOX, d/o David MADDOX & Ann HARDIMAN. They must have moved away from Buckingham as he is not shown in the 1830 census. One of Sarah's sisters moved to TN, perhaps she did also. New Canton is a tiny village located in the northern part of the county. It is situated on the mouth of the Slate Creek on an elevated bank about a 1/4 mile from the James River.
