    1. [VABUCKIN] The Thing I would like most to know
    2. Hope everyone is having a great Holiday season. The thing I would like most to know(and may never find out) is the other child of Walter Irvine who was a merchant in New Canton and died in Cumberland Co Va at his brother-in-law's home in 1807 (obit published in 2 Va. newspapers) ..he married Ann Fitzhugh Rose (sometimes used Nancy nickname interchangebly in Amherst docs.) ..daughter of Col. Patrick Rose of Amherst Co....I know the name of one child of Walter and Ann's..Samuel W. Irvine who moved to Weakley Co Tenn in 1833...this name was sometimes spelled Irving probably d/t the Charles Irving family located in Buckingham Co at the same time and I suppose spelling was just lumped together..docs in Amherst clearly show name Irvine as did subsquent spelling in docs in Tenn. Ann later married Smyth Payne Esq. of Buck. a widower with 11 children.(found his wife's obit in Va papers also). Ann and Smyth later sold land in Buck. according to land tax and summary records.. The only clue I have to the possible name of other child is that in Cumberland Co there is a Martha Powell w/o of Henry who had a son Walter Irvine Powell and daughters with middle name of Rose and one with given name of Nancy... does anyone know of this particular family? I know I am grasping at straws here but thought I would give it another try. Thank you Mary
