    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HAC.2ACE/1014.3 Message Board Post: New Canton is a district in the North East corner of Buckingham County. It covers land frequently referred to as TILLTOSON which is the name of the Parish. There are no major cities or large towns in Buckingham County the largest being the county seat of Buckihgham. My grandmother, Judith Staton, was living with or on the property of a Johnson family in Buckingham County (New Canton) at the time of her death in 1884 - aged 80. See below. I have just begun to try to figure out who this Johnson is/was. Any ideas you have will be much appreciated. Deed Book #4 pg.600 This deed, made the 7th day of May in the year 1884 between Judith Staton of the first part and John W.Johnson of the second part all of Buckingham County in the state of Virginia: Witness that in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars, the reciept whereof is hereby acknowdleged, the said Judith Staton do bargain, sell, grant and convey unto the said John W. Johnson with general Warranty, except reserving during her natural life a home for herself, thirty five acres of land on which the said Judith Staton resides adjoining the lands of Gamm Patterson, James F. Hammer and John W. Brown. Witness the following signature and seal Judith X Staton
