I am one of the new people to the list. My William Gordon was b. 1779 in VA. He first showed up in Buckingham Co. land records in 1814. In the 1820 census, he appeared to have been a widower living with his then 14 year old daughter, Nancy Anise Gordon. (She married George Turner Pyle in Buckingham Co. before 1830.) Sometime between the 1820 census and 1823, William Gordon married Rhoda B., b. 1800 in VA. I believe that Rhoda was a McCormack or McCormick. William and Rhoda appeared to have inherited land in Buckingham Co. from the estate of Stephen McCormack. Their land was on the Slate River, 10 miles south of the courthouse. In 1835, they sold their 126 acres and moved their family to Morgan Co., IN. My most wanted piece of information would be a marriage record or any clue as to Rhoda's family. I would love to be able to figure out who her parents were. I also would appreciate any help in finding William Gordon's parents. I am trying to establish his connection to the other Gordons who were in this part of Buckingham Co. during this time period. Some of the other Gordons were Obadiah, Notley, Richard, Samuel, Archibald T., Robert D. and Joseph. I would be most grateful for any clues. Barbara Montgomery
