OK, I'm fairly new to the list. I'm the Library Director for the Daughters of the American Revolution in Washington, DC. My maternal grandfather, Lewis Tyler Hamner, was born in Buckingham County, and a bunch of his ancestors lived in the county. His Buckingham surnames, through his mother's family, are (besides Hamner, really from Albemarle) Spencer, Glover, Tindall, Patteson, Benning, Morgan, Clopton, and probably some I don't know about because of that lousy courthouse fire! What I'd really like to have for Christmas (and my 50th birthday two days later) was more information on the parents of my great-great grandfather Samuel Madison Spencer, son of John and Mary Spencer. I've been working on these folks for years with minimal progress. Anybody have any clues or answers on this line of the Spencers, which seem to be very poorly documented in manuscript and other sources which do exist for Buckingham? Thanks! Eric G. OK, To get ourselves moving on to genealogy and away from discussing infected subscribers, let's try a new tactic.... Those of you who are new to the list, introduce yourselves and tell us what one piece of information relating to Buckingham County you would most like to find. Those of you who've been around here for a while, reintroduce yourselves and let us know what one piece of information about Buckingham County you would most like to find. Please change the subject line to include at least the surname of the family lines you are researching. I'll start in another message. -- Mary Taffet List Admin for VABUCKIN [email protected] ============================== Search over 1 Billion names at Ancestry.com! http://www.ancestry.com/rd/rwlist1.asp
