    3. My brick wall is finding the parents of my great-great-grandmother Martha Ann Spencer. Calculating her birth from census records she would have been born about 1815. She married Thomas Robertson. She was his second wife and she is misidentified in The Ligon Family and Connections as Mary Spencer. Thomas married first Elizabeth Connor. Second Martha Ann Spencer (name from census and marriage records of her children) and third he married Mary Harvey (from the Lost marriages of Buckingham). Mary is buried at the home in Buckingham. Martha may have been married previously. We find in the 1850 census a child listed as Mary Warner and then in the 1860 census she is listed as Mary Robertson. Thomas had a daughter named Martha Susan by his first wife, but she was married two months prior to the enumeration and was listed with her husband, William Lewis Kitchen. Possibly Mary is the daughter of Martha by a previous marriage. She is NOT listed as a child of Thomas Robertson in the Lig! on Family and Connections, but all of the rest of the children are listed. So this may be a clue to a marriage to a Warner. The only other clue I have is that it appears from land records that Thomas and Martha inherited land from Frances Spencer widow of William. Thomas' son Archer was also listed as living with her in the 1850 census, and later Thomas and Martha move from the New Canton area to the land that Frances had owned and lived on in 1850. If anyone has any clues to Martha Spencer's parentage please let me know. She cannot be the daughter of Frances as she married William Spencer in Henrico Co.in 1822 (she was nee Whitlock) unless the ages are quite wrong in the censuses. Lois Mundy Todd
