Davis, Joel Davis, Matthew Davis, 1 slave Lewis This appears to be the only Davis family on this tax list. On Buckingham Co. Tax List "A" for 1787 Matthew Davis is listed living next door to a Thomas Davis and Joel lived near them. There is a Bartlett Davis living next door to Benjamin Davis. I don't know if Thomas and Bartlett are related to "my" John, Benjamin, Joel and Matthew. Joel Davis is listed in Virginians in the Revolution as Davis, Joel, of Buckingham. Thomas Davis is also listed as being in the Buckingham Militia. There is a Matthew Davis listed as being in the 10th Continential Line, but there is no information that he is from Buckingham County. Joel and his wife "Mana" migrated from Buckingham Co. to present day Giles County by 1810 where she is on tax lists and census with her sons, Lindsay, Joshua and Elijah. This is where I'm stuck.
