Lesley: i don't have any info on the surnames you need, but the info that the mother traveled back to Buckingham for the birth of children rang a bell in my head. My mother and dad lived in one county in south Ala. When it came time for me to be born, she went back to her mother's county for me to be born. When I was an adult I asked somebody in the family WHY she did that. The reply was it was the custom back then for the expectant mother to go back to he mother's for the child to be born. The custom. But this did not happen when my sister was born two years later. I don't know why.
