    2. Barbara Montgomery
    3. Carol, Thank you for this information. My 3rd great grandparents, William Gordon & Rhoda McCormick/McCormack, were married in Buckingham Co. circa 1821. I have been trying to find the parents of each of them. William was older, b. 1779 in VA, and was probably married to his first wife (name unknown) by the time period that this list covered. Rhoda was born in 1800 and it is possible that one of these three men was her father. From land transfer records, it appears that William & Rhoda obtained land from the estate of Stephen McCormack, but I have been unsuccessful finding names of his children. I appreciate your assistance in checking the book. 2. Dear Michael, No, I don't have a Jesse Robertson and to tell you the truth I haven't been doing much research lately. Rose sparked my interest with Arvonia and Pankey. I do have some info of Robertsons in Albemarle county. I've been trying to figure out how Pat Robertson is related to our line. Still haven't figured it out. Papa (David Robertson) said that he and Willis Robertson were 2nd cousins. The names in Pat Robertson's line are also in our line. If I come across the name of Jesse Robertson, I will definitely let you know. Small world when it comes to this family tree. Thank you and glad to meet you, Deborah

    1. RE: [VABUCKIN] Physicians in Buckingham County, 1850
    2. Wilmer L. Kerns
    3. If you want a longer list of physicians, check the Personal Property Tax lists for Buckingham County, 1849-1850 years, to get names of physicians who were licensed to practice medicine. They had to pay a tax for the license. The census does not list every person in a profession because almost everyone was multi-occupational. The minister not only pastored a church but may have been a farmer or merchant, too. A school teacher was more than likely a farmer or carpenter, also, or whatever. Only one occupation could be listed on the census. The tax information is available from the Library of Virginia via interlibrary loan. Wilmer L. 2. Dear Michael, Do you happen to be related to William Harding who was married to Bernice Robertson Harding? Their children where Durwood, Joyce Ann, Warren , Gretchen, and Chris? I may have an in-law in the list of names. Bernice Robertson Harding was my great aunt. My grandfather David Robertson was her brother. I also am related to Abner Seay and to Rose by marriage. Thank you, Deborah Robertson Peak

    1. Physician in New Canton
    2. F.Hill
    3. In a letter written to his children in March 1843, my ggg-grandfather William C. Harris wrote: "Your Mother is dead. I suppose cancer killed her. She had stayed near New Canton at a doctor's house three months. She was attended by four doctors. After she died, I kept her out of the grave three days and she was buried in the grave yard on the plantation where she lived and died". Her name was Judith Griswold/Grizzle Harris died February 24, 1843 I have never found where these ancestors lived in Buckingham but am sure it was probably near New Canton. Has anyone seen anything written on the physicians in New Canton in 1843. I thought "attended by four doctors" was strange ----four physicians in New Canton at that time. Thank you.
