Hello Buckingham researchers, Is anyone going to the Buckingham County courthouse in the near future? I am looking for someone who is planning a trip already, and would do some research for me. I am looking for a court record from 1909 or 1908. It is not available on microfilm, but I am hoping the courthouse has the actual documents. Please let me know if you are going, and I will give you details, and we can discuss a price. I would love to go myself, but just can't get away. Thanks so much! I will really appreciate a copy and your thoughtfulness. Bill

I believe that Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Shepherd (1840-1927) is in the third row, third from left (near the center of the picture). No beard. If you want, I can email you a picture of him that was taken circa 1905. He married Malissa Frances Word, both born in and died in Buckingham County between Sprouses Corner and Buckingham Court House. Wilmer L. Josiah Davidson died in Limestone County, AL abt 1825. His widow, Elizabeth, and Thomas Hardiman (formerly of Buckingham Count, VA) were co-administrators of his estate. Josiah (b probably about 1785- 1790 VA) and Elizabeth (b abt 1790 in VA) Davidson had 3 minor children all born in Limestone County, AL Martha b abt 1821, Mary Ann b abt 1824, and Lucinda Rebecca b abt 1825. It is not known if they had older children. Was there a family tie between Thomas Hardiman and Josiah or Elizabeth Davidson? Was this Josiah Davidson from Buckingham Co., VA? There have been several women named Mary Elizabeth LESUEUR in Buckingham Co, VA over the years. According to my records, "yours" was born 15 Dec 1861 and died 14 Sep 1954. The one that had the query earlier was born some 20 years later, 30 Jun 1881 and died 28 Jul 1939. She was the daughter of John J. LESUEUR and Sarah Jane DAVIS and she married James Garland DUNKUM. They were 2nd cousins, both having descended from Chastain LESUEUR and Ann PERRAULT. I would be glad to hear from anyone with info on either of these families. Ruby Talley Smith
An Alexander Stinson, descended from Alexander of Buckingham, died in Guilford Court House about 1782. He mentions his grandfather Childress in his will. The Childress family were neighbors of the Stinsons in Buckingham. I hope this helps. Tom Stinson

A William and Elizabeth (Unknown) Davidson were there by at least 1780, and they MIGHT have been from Buckingham Co., VA, based on a couple of "clues." I hope to prove if they were from Buckingham by who their neighbors were in NC (since I doubt that they went there alone). I do not yet know who their neighbors were in NC, but I plan to investigate that next. Thanks!
