Hi Jim for the Granny's, I am interested in any one by the name of Woodmore, Wodmore, Wadmore, Wedmore. I have traced the family back to William Woodmore/Wadmore who lived in Buckingham Co., Va in 1785. There was a John Woodmore in Cumberland Co., Va in 1752. Don't know the connection but there has to be one--very rare name which gets misspelled easily. Pat48084@aol.com

Buckingham in 1720? It was Goochland then, as I am sure you know. Anyway, I'd like to find out if there were any Stinsons there at that time. Thanks, Tom Stinson (TSTin36800@aol.com)
Hello, I just subscribed yesterday so this will be my first message/request. I am looking for a David Martin and a Stephen Martin who lived on David's Creek and Stephen's Creek just off of Freeman's Creek which drained into the James River. The land is very close to the Campbell Co. border and later it became Appomattox Co. Both of theirs Wills were proven in Campbell Co. I am looking for marriage records for Martins in general also. I sure hope someone out there can help me or tell me, nicely, where to go to find this information. Mary
Hello, I am researching the Barnes Surname in Buckingham Co. up to about 1780. My interest is James Barnes who was born about 1750. He died in Howard Co., Missouri in 1822. The administrators of the probate were his wife, Nancy, and Joseph C. McKay. Securities were provided by Abraham Barnes, James Ray and William Monroe. The Appraisers were Daniel Monroe, William McKenzie and Boswell Pulliam. Probable children are James Barnes, b. abt 1780, m. Milly Ann, Anderson Barnes, m. Cynthia or Scotha Cannon, George W. Barnes, Azel Barnes. Family probably was in Rockingham Co., NC by 1780, then Kentucky before going to Missouri. James may be a brother of Chesley and Turbefield Barnes. I would like to talk with any other Barnes researchers in Buckingham Co. John Reed La Rue
Hello all, We have just joined your mailing lists and have obtained a copy of a reconstructed Census for 1720. We will look up your names for free. The granny's are a group of ladies, and some gentlemen now, that do research at the National Archives for people. They also go to the Denver Library which is rated the 5th best Genealogy library in the country. It has a section for every State in the Union and lots of National Publications. If your needing things looked up, give me an E-mail. Most things cost less than $4.00. With permission from our requestors, the information obtained for people will be shared with anyone interested in the surname to the mailing lists. Sincerely, Jim (for the Granny's)
Hi Everyone, I am looking for any information on William Woodmore/Wadmore/Wedmore and his wife Elizabeth who lived in Buckingham Co. 1785-1830 or so. He had the following children: Thomas, William, Susan, James W. Woodmore who married Jane Scott and moved to Nashville area of Tennessee, and Arthur. There was a John Woodmore in Cumberland Co., Va in 1752. I am wondering if they are related. Any information would be welcome. Pat48084@aol.com

Alice, How are you doing? Saw you on this list -- just had to reply. We have been very busy! I was named North Carolina Media Specialist of the Year and had to go to Charlotte. Then, I went to a conference in Atlanta. We went to a Civil War Battle today. How is your mother? We are going to be in Appomatox in April. I will let you know the date when I talk to Jackie. He is turkey hunting and I thought the girls and I would drive to Buckingham and do genealogy on Friday, and then I will take them to historic Appomatox on Saturday. I think it is the last weekend in April or the first weekend in May. I will let you know. Maybe you can meet me in Dillwyn? Isn't this where the library is and where county records are? Hope you are well and I enjoy your funny posts! Mary in Moyock
Dot, I have not done any research back beyond Benjamin but have received lists back to Rev. Wm. from others so here is what I have: Didn't verify any of this: William Robert Duncan b. April 19, 1692 Culpeper VA died 1792 in Washington VA m. 1714 to Ruth Rawley or Raleigh in Culpeper. Their ch: Benjamin (my line) b. 1750-55 in VA m. Dec. 1776 to Mary Davis. Benj. died in 1803 maybe in Bell Co. KY (no one seems to be sure) Mary Davis is reportedly a cousin to the famous Jefferson Davis, but again no one has verified that. Benj. was a blacksmith. I have the pension app. # for Mary somewhere if you want that. Remind me. Other siglings: William m. to Sarah Norman. James(might have been James Rawley but not sure) m. 27 Sept. 1797 to Dorcas Butler, Zachary, Frederick, Elizabeth married John Buchanon, Sarah. Got this from Donald Louis Duncan of Colorado 303-699-0607 years ago.(90) I think he moved to Ill. but don't have current address. Donald has that Wm. Robert b. 1692-1714 married Ruth Raleigh and Wm. prob. father Wm. b. Oct. 1, 1659 in Scotland m. 168l to Margaret McMurdo of Dumfries. He has Willliam Robt. b. Jan 7, 1630 in Perhshire Sct. Was Ministered executed for his faith in 1692 (because he would not pay homage to King Charles of Scotland m. Susan Haldane in Aug. 29, 1757 Glasgow. I never added this to the family tree. Maybe on Internet, we can connect up in Scotland and someone will check. There is a Scotland address on Rootsweb but I'm so emailed now, can't add to another list!! How bout you? Let me know if any of this matches anything you have.

Addison WEBSTER, land owner in Buckingham County in 1840 census. (age 60-70) Rezin WEBSTER (b 1815), assumed son of Addison, married Jane OLIVER, moved to Prince William County and thence to DC. Looking for verification.
Ann, how nice of you to write! I've been out of town for a few days and am just now getting around to answering all that stacked up mail! I strongly suspect that our Duncans will lead back to Rev. William Duncan too - the William carries down through every generation; each generation has at least one Methodist minister to their credit, as well. My husband is certainly not a minister, but was in charge of chapel management while in the Air Force. Would love to hear about any siblings of your Benjamin Duncan (b.1755), as that is the era where our supposed father of Charles Duncan, b. 1775(Va), d. in Blairsville, Ga. is supposed to have come from Buckingham Co, Va. His name is purportedly Jacob. Where were yours before Benjamin? What part of Va? Who was the immigrant in your branch? If you have a minute and could answer any of my questions, I would be so grateful. With the burning of the courthouse in Buckingham Co, Va. I am having a difficult time trying to narrow down our search. Look forward to hearing from you - and many thanks in advance! Dot Wilson Duncan Tampa, Florida
Alice, I am getting senile (I think!) What were you asking me about in Fluvanna? I got about 100 emails the last couple days (I'm on too many lists, but its such fun). So run the question by me again and refresh my mind. Something about the Taylors probably but WHAT??? Maybe my mind's frozen - we had another blizzard today, ice and 5 inches blowing snow so I stayed home from work. Enough already....it's late March! Ann in Wisconsin Ann in Wisconsin
Is there a BROOKS family in Albemarle, Buckingham, or Botetourt Cos. in VA that could be where my BROOKS family moved to after they left Brunswick Co., VA before the Revolutionary War? My Rev. War soldier Capt. Robert KYLE md my Leah BROOKS (b.1747 prob. Brunswick Co., VA-d.1832 Hawkins Co., TN). My Robert KYLE lived with his parents Robert KYLE (b.1702 Tyrone Co.,Ire-d.1774 Buckingham Co.,VA ) and Betty Ann CAMPBELL (b. 1704-d.1779 Buckingham Co., VA, dau. of Hugh CAMPBELL II) in both Albemarle & Buckingham Cos. in VA. Robert & Betty Campbell KYLE also had land in Botetourt Co., VA which they deeded to my Robert KYLE, Jr. in Robert KYLE, Sr.'s will. Where did Leah BROOKS & Robert KYLE meet and marry? Did Leah meet Robert through her Revolutionary War soldier brothers: Castleton, Littleton, Thomas, and possibly John & George???? Who were the BROOKS children's parents? Where did they go after they left Brunswick Co., VA??? Help would be gratefully appreciated.
