    3. (Wife of Thomas Wooldridge Agee) Susan Taylor Agee's children were: I. Napoleon Bonaparte Agee, who served in Co. K, 4th VA Cal, CSA and was killed in the Battle of Spotsylvania 5/8/1864. He was just 17 when he died and had not been in the army long. When he left for the war, his dog howled and howled for days. 2. Paul Clifford Agee died as a child. 3. Murat Thomas (Uncle Nat) Agee (I have a picture of him) He did not marry, studied law for awhile. 4. Byron William (Uncle Buck) Agee married twice: (1) Emma (?Lillie) Hancock. They had a daughter, Virginia (Jennie) White Agee. (2) Minnie Brightwell. They had 6 children. I have picture of Uncle Buck Agee also. His son, Thomas Henry Agee, has Agee burial ground on his land in Buckingham. I think his parents are there as well as Thomas Agee and Susan Taylor Agee. At least, I think that is what he told me when I visited him in 1963. 5. Virginia Emma Agee, b. 1861, my great grandmother, married Patrick Henry Fore. Have pictures of both of them. He was magistrate at Appomatox Co. Courthouse. 11 children. When she was a little girl, she said she remembers the Yankees riding through the house and yard and taking everything of value and all the food and livestock. 6. Robert Lee Agee, named after Robert E. Lee. Married Genoy Kyle Shelton. Had 8 children. His son, Louis N. Agee, wrote the Agee Register. (It was the third update of the Agee Family records and he was also past president of the Huguenot Society of Manakin, Va.) Another note: Thomas W. Agee died after trying to separate two men whose names I won't mention, who were having a fight with knives at a party at his home. His wife, Susan, said that she saw him in a white satin shirt, and the next time she saw him it was stained completely red with blood. Lockjaw set in and he died from it. I wrote down all these stories years ago, and if I can find some more, I will let you know. My grandmother was Emma Virginia Fore, daughter of Virginia Emma Agee and Patrick Henry Fore. I have pictures of most of her brothers and sisters, knew most of them, and some of their children. She was born and raised in Appomattox. Sandra Due

    3. I would love to see a picture of some of the Taylors. I have seen the Agee Register in our library and I have the name of Susan's children. But no stories about them. That makes it more interesting. The thing I was most interested in was James Taylor being married twice to Mildred McCormick and Nancy Wooten. Where did you find this out? I have never had proof of that or known where to find it. I have been taking Taylor Talk for a long time. I am glad Cecil Taylor is better. My cousin in Tulsa that I met through genealogy passed away. She was real interested and we talked on the phone alot. The fire in Buckingham burned alot of records. James and Jordan's house is still standing built in 1793 and known as the Tall House. Jordan also gave land for the Baptist Church there. They lived in Slate River, Troublesome Creek. Jordan was in the War of 1812 and received a pension. Most of his children died before him including my gr gr grandmother Mary Catherine Taylor Womack and Susan. I can't remember unless I go look at my records. Frances White Williamson daughter of Cuthbert Williamson and second wife Susan White daughter of John White . Cuthbert in Revolutionary War. I was thinking James Taylor's wife first name Sarah. I will look it up. The problem is that there were three James Taylors and marriage records burned. Linda Z.

Neither are the parents of John H. Bradley who married Sarah W. Agee, daughter of Thomas B. Agee and wife Frances Snoddy. Sandra Due

    3. Dear Linda, It is so great to hear from you. I was born and reared in Richmond but live in San Antonio now. As a young child, my grandmother used to take me up to Buckingham to visit her Agee cousins, and later I corresponded with Louis Agee who is dead now but published the latest "Agee Register". I have the lineage back to the immigrant, Matthew Agee. I don't have much on Jordan Taylor, although I was told he lived to be very old and died after he was baptized in the river in January. Do you know what Susan A. Taylor's middle name was? And, I would love to know more about her family. Here is what I have already and please correct me if I am wrong: Jordan Taylor, b. Jan. 5, 1793 Buckingham Co., VA and died 7 Jan. 1893, Buckingham Co., VA. He married Francis White Williamson. I have Susan born ca 1825 and died 5/10/1876. I do not know where they are buried. For the father of Jordan Taylor, I have James Taylor, b. ca 1751 and will proved Jan. 22, 1847, Buckingham Co., VA. He was married twice: Mily McCormack and Nancy Wooten, and I do not know which one was the mother of Jordan. I have the lineage on Francis White Williamson on the Williamson side, but not too much on the White side. Her mother was Susannah White, maybe daughter of John White. Her father was Cuthbert Williamson, Jr., but there were several people by that name. He died in Nov. 1812 Charlotte Co., NC. You may have all this. I really have not put it all in the computer because I have been concentrating on my mother's side. When I get it in, I will send it to you. Meantime, it is good to have a cousin to correspond with. Thank you for answering. By the way, I have 3 sisters who live in Richmond with their families. My great great grandmother was Susan Taylor. My maiden name was Wright, from the Wright family in Appomattox and Pr. Edward Counties. Other names I am working on in that area are Fore, Mickle, Walden, Ferguson, Gregory, Gaulding, Martin, and Coleman. I also get a newsletter called "Taylor Talk" published by Cecil Taylor. Have you heard of it? Sincerely, Sandra W. Due P.S. Louis Agee had a very small picture either of Francis White Williamson, or of Susan Taylor. I think his wife still lives in Buckingham. I have a picture of Susan Taylor Agee's daughter, Virginia Emma Agee, taken about 1860.

    3. Dear Cathy, This message is being sent to the Buckingham list for convenience. The Stephen Wright listed as married to Peggy Brooks on November 1, 1784, at Buckingham County was most probably the son of 1769 (year of death) George Wright of Essex County (place of death). Stephen resided in 1782 at Essex County and no other Stephen Wright is known at this point who could be the groom in this marriage record. His nephews 1810 Archibald Wright of Buckingham County and 1807 Gabriel Wright of Buckingham County also resided in Buckingham. Older brothers of Stephen were in Cumberland County, including 1770 John Wright of Cumberland County, 1774 George Wright of Cumberland County, 1791 Thomas Wright of Cumberland County, and 1773 Samuel Wright of Cumberland County, or remained in Essex County, including 1771 Ambrose Wright of Essex County, 1772 William Wright of Essex County, 1814 James Wright of Essex County, and 1801 Benjamin Wright of Essex County. One other brother was 1816 Griffin Wright of Franklin County, North Carolina, and the last brother was Richard Wright. If anyone has information on where Stephen Wright resided or died, I would much appreciate their sharing it with me. Sue Wright, who maintains the Essex list, has done excellent research on the family of 1769 George Wright of Essex County. Best wishes, Robert N. 3. Sandra, I am related to Susan A. Taylor through her sister Mary Catherine Taylor who married Larkin Womack. They are next to Jordan Taylor in the 1850 Census of Buckingham Co. Va. You are the first person I have responded to all my queries. Their mother was Frances White Williamson. Jordan lived to be 100 years old. What do you have on Susan and Thomas Agee. I believe Agee was a Hugenot name. There are cousins still there from Buckingham Co. Va. on Matthew Taylor's side. Linda Z. OKC

    1. [VABUCKIN-L] Infor re Buckingham records
    2. Caddowens
    3. Hi to the list - this message is really intended for Kathy who wanted info on Huddleston - - - but this might help all of you Buckingham rooters. The death records are extant for 1869 - to about 1894 or thereabouts. They seem to be less towards the end, as I don't think reporting was taken as seriously as earlier. If you find your person on the death register - it should list his age, spouse's name, parent's name, where born, color and relation of person giving data. So for many this helps get a lot of data. There is no guarantee that the person you are seeking will be on this register, but a good chance. I will be glad to look up some when next I go....however, don't send me any requests now as we are going away to the west coast in our RV. I will try to remember to send a notice to the list if I am going that-a-way. Alice in Fluvanna << Looking for information or confirmation on Samuel Thomas Huddleston of Buckingham Co. who married first Sarah Huddleston around 1860 and then married a Martha (probably either a Meador or maybe Sarah's sister) around 1865. They stayed in Buckingham Co. Any news would be appreciated. Kathy Huddcooley@aol.com ______________________________ -------------------- X-Message: #2 Dat >>
