I would like to ask if someone could lookup a death record on their nexr visit to the courthouse. LUCY ANN RAGLAND was the 1st wife of JAMES MONROE RAGLAND. LUCY was b. 1833 in Buckingham County, m. abt 1853-54 and died in Buckingham County in 1871. I'm hoping the death record will give the names of her parents. Thanks in advance. Betty Bryant
Hi: One of my gg grandfathers, Jonathan Christian, married Sarah(Sallie) Nowlin in Appomattox County about 1828. She was born about 1812, county unknown. Jonathan owned land in Buckingham & Appomattox Counties. Their daughter, Minerva Christian Johnson is one of my g grandmothers. She lived in Buckingham County all of her married life.I have the names of Minerva's sisters, but have been unable to find them since reading your e-mail. I suspect they are related to your Nowlins, but don't know how. If you discover how, please let me know. One of my aunt's middle name is Nowlin. Hank Simpson
Hello. I am seeking information regarding James A. NOWLIN of Buckingham County, born about 1750, died after 1806; children included James, Nancy, Nathaniel, David, William and John, who later settled in TN and IL. Abraham NOWLIN, born about 1763, who married Mildred, and had Samuel, Martha (SEARS) and Bryant, among others, was likely his brother. *Who were the parents of James and Abraham? *Who was the wife of James A. Nowlin? Thanks, Charles E. Boetsch (ceb@mcsi.net)
My address is: Robert N. Grant 15 Campo Bello Court Menlo Park, CA 94025 650-854-0895 And thank you for all the trouble you are going to for me. Best wishes, Bob
I will try to get a picture in the mail to you. What is your address? Sandra Due
That's funny, and a good way to start the day, laughing. But, no, don't know where it was. I know where the one in Richmond was because my mother told me if I didn't get an education I was going there.
Hi: Can anyone pinpoint the physical location of the "Poor House" enumerated on page 365 of the 1840 Buckingham County census? My relatives were only three doors away! I've come close to being in the poor house myself, but I never lived that close! Thanks, Wade Taylor
Hi All, If you have tried to access any of the Rootsweb pages, you will know that they are down. Here is a note from the server owner. We are hoping to be back at full capacity by early next week. HARDWARE STILL BROKEN (Friday ... ) Date: Friday, June 05, 1998 8:31 AM > The good news is that the failing drive is now out of the machine, > and the disks are organized such that we can easily move them to a > newer and faster machine. > > The bad news is that the old server is still overloaded. We had > hoped the new drives (which are much faster than the old drive) > would have helped reduce the load on the server, but we still have > capacity problems. We obviously still have stability problems on the old Web server. I'm in the process of replacing all the adapter boards, with especial prejudice concerning the SCSI disk controller. Regardless of whether I can get the old server to stay up, we'll have the new server online within the next couple of days. That should fix the problem in a permanent sense. -B Good luck in your quest, Yvonne, List Administrator ****** Yvonne James-Henderson, Burke, VA MO USGenWeb Archives Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/mo/mofiles.htm NC USGenWeb Archive Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/nc/ncfiles.htm DC USGenWeb Archive Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/dc/dcfiles.htm ****** My Family Discussion Lists: BALLEAU BRISBIN COOKSEY GALBRAITH HITT HORN KENTON LAWSON LUCKY MORROW SWEET ZIMMERMAN Also researching JAMES/WRIGHT/WALLACE/WOODS//EATON/DRAKE/ FORSYTHE/WALKER/RUSSELL/DAVIS/BOOKOUT/BARNEY/REYNOLDS/ BUMP/HENDERSON/MCCLURG and more! Alice, I really enjoyed our day in Buckingham! I hope to do it again some time this summer. Maybe I could meet you and you could show me around the UVA library. We have been busy as mess since we got home. Jackie's dad was rushed to the hospital and the next day he came down with Bell's palsy. I thought he was having a stroke. He looks like it to. I is getting better now. Got to run and get my hair cut. Hi I am glad that the list is back up and I have two family members that I am trying to track down. Patrick Henry WHITEHEAD was born in Buckingham ~1813 and I think maybe that his father is Stephen since his first son's name was Stephen. In 1836 Patrick married Bethany TURNER and she was born ~1810. I can't find documentation for either of their families. They moved to Monroe County, Kentucky after they married where they raised their children. Patrick was killed in the civil war and Bethany died in 1893. So any information that anyone can give me would be most appreciated. Kristie
