We probably have been in contact before. But I still have a question that you may have found an answer to. Almira HOPE (30 Dec 1820 - 18 Aug 1888) d/o William HOPE & Margaret MILES m on 24 Oct 1850 David Garrett BONDURANT. David Garrett BONDURANT was born 22 Aug 1817 in Buckingham Co, VA & died 7 Jan 1873 in Scotland Co, MO. He was the s/o David BONDURANT & Mary GARRETT. John HOPE married 4 Jan 1849 to Sarah Frances BONDURANT who was born 21 Jun 1830 in Shelby Co, KY and died 27 Mar 1863. Sarah Frances BONDURANT was the d/o Thomas BONDURANT Jr (7 Nov 1782 - 27 Dec 1849) & Mary AGEE. Both parents were born and died in Buckingham Co, VA. I know the connection between David Garrett BONDURANT & Sarah Frances BONDURANT. They were 2nd cousins. They both descend from John BONDURANT Sr & Sarah Rachel TAYLOR. My question is what was the conection between Almira HOPE & John HOPE? Surely there was one. Does anyone know? Ruby Talley Smith

Posted on: Buckingham County, Va Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/Buckingham/11067 Surname: Bondurant ------------------------- Dear Grace, Yes, you will find me listed among those who visit the MyFamily Bondurants often. Glad to know that you have made the connections. I cannot yet verify that I am a Bondurant, but all of the clues point in that direction. I believe that Jane Bondurant married my ggggrandfather Nathaniel Barnes. Jane's father was probably Richard Bondurant. We believe that Richard's father was another Richard b. 1740 whose father was John. I've collected Bondurant data for over 10 years trying to sort out the branches thereby eliminating all of the other possibilities. A very laborious process considering the number of descendants. Good hunting! Sharon Kingen
Hi: I have a tad more for you on Mary S.(I have "S" not Susan) Stinson who m. your Branch on 20 Dec 1838, as found in my husband's family Bible record. His given name not shown, tho. Mary S. Stinson is shown born 30 July 1815 place not given. Her mother, according to the 1850 census of B'ham Co. was "Elizabeth". Perhaps somebody else can now elaborate further on this family. My husband is very ill and I can't take the time to do a large search. Veitschegger: In regards to Robert Stinson There are about 60 references to a Robert iin the index to the book "Our Stinsons" I cannot take all the time needed to quote you all of them. Have you looked into the Russell Co. VA John Stinsons? If you would like to purchase this Stinson book, it was written by Ullery and Edna Stinson, who both had the surname Stinson and never found out if they were or were not related. Edna died some time back, and I understand Ullery has died also. However, their printing business is carried on by their children. The address is: Woodward & Stinson Printing Co. 1015 South Main Street Columbia Tenn 38401 I don't know the current price. There are about 520 pages. It contains many many stinsons from all over the U.S. My husband's line is on pages 242 and 243. Idalyn [email protected] ==================================================== Cp;i,boa. Carol: Since the Stinsons you emailed about are those of my h usband's, I'm wondering whether or not you ran into our family group sheet which perhaps somebody else gave to you. No matter. Just want to note that AlgoNa and AlgoMa are not the same. AlgoMa was a 3-story home (and possibly with the land) that a Thomas Stinson, as a carpenter I believe helped to build in the central northwest part of Buckingham Co. My husband and I went thru Algoma before they tore it down. There were more than one Thomas Stinsons. The Stinsons were not the owners. A Stinson was an overseer at Algoma. AlgoNa is a place (not near AlgoMa) west of the courthouse just off Hwy 60 and not far from Mount Rush. If I am not correct, I would appreciate it if some one would correct me. I am not a a B'ham native. I thought this item might be of interest because of Lovingston's proximity to Buckingham County. I recently bought a Bell System magazine ad (it's undated, but I'm guessing 1950s) showing telephone lineman William T. Wright, Jr. of Lovingston at work in the area. The ad notes Mr. Wright's involvement in his community, and that he's married to "a Lovingston girl". The ad includes a picture of Mr. Wright conferring with Mrs. Hattie Allen about her telephone service. I've posted a scanned image at: lafrance.homestead.com/index.html If anyone wants a higher-quality scan or a hard copy, please let me know. Regards, Albert LaFrance Falls Church, VA
