Can anyone tell me marriage, death, maiden name information on Elijah and Nancy Blankenship. They show up in the Buckingham 1850 census, Dist. #1, being age 55. Siblings are: Julia, Richard S., Sarah, Leonard C., Linvill E., Parthena, Susan, Walker S., Charles. They also show up in the 1860 Buckingham census, Dist. #2, New Canton. After 1860 I have found no records. This is my gggrandfather/mother. Thanks for your help.
Seeking information on Henry Trent (b. ca 1780s), son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Edwards) Trent, who was living at Bent Creek in Buckingham County during the 1820s. Henry married Phoebe Walton (b. ca. 1788), daughter of Anthony and Rebecca (Johnson) Walton of Bent Creek (now in Appomattox County). What happened to them? I don't have any sources for the Trent family. Does this couple show up in Trent genealogies? Wilmer L. Kerns
Attn: Marilyn Symonds I printed off your msg ref Hooper and snail-mailed to Louise Stinson who wrote a manuscript on the Stinson line, also which included Hooper. She writes me back and says the following: (she is NOT on line) "The last e-mail you sent me from Marilyn Symonds is most interesting. Could you get her snail-mail address so that I can write her directly?? Would appreciate it very much. The Hooper will poses a multitude of unanswered questions, and it certainly does nothing to clarify the relationships expecially of Joanna and the Stinsons. Among my questions are: (1) Why was Alexander, David, and Cary omitted?? (2) Why did Joseph not name his daughter that married Henry Trent? (3) Everyone was identified except Hugh Hooper, who was he? (4) Why did Joseph Hoooper buy George Carrington a mourning suit??? (Carington was a wealthy man and thought to be an attorney) In another reference I saw an item whjich stated that George Hooper, the son of Joseph Hooper, had chosen George Carrington as his quardian. Was the "nephew" really Joseph's son? These are some of the questions that I have been looking for the answers. Perhaps Marilyn has some material that will help in resolving them." Marilyn, if you will send me your snail mail address privately, I will send it to her. Or, if you can think of another way for you two to get together, I'll be glad to help. Wilmer: William Isbell was listed three times as being reimbursed for materials given or impressed for, to the military effort sometime between 1770 and 1784/5 IN GOOCHLAND COUNTY. This does not give family information. However if you want to know exactly what materials and dates, let me know.
