I am looking for information about Bernice Duncan, my great aunt, who was struck by lightning as a young child (which ended her life) in Buckingham Co. somewhere between 1902 and 1905. Were there any local newspapers at that time which may have mentioned the story? I have an old photograph of her with my grandfather, William Earl Duncan, from about 1902. Any information on this family while they resided in Buckingham County would be appreciated. William Earl's parents were William Archer Duncan and Mary Rebecca Harris. Thank you! He was s/o William BANTON & Mary GLOVER. He was shown as a carpenter and married to Mary Ann who apparently died before 1860. They had 12 children. Will you please share with me your connection to the family? I am particularly interested in a son, John R. BANTON who married Sarah F. GOUGH. Thanks, Ruby Talley Smith
The LDS wesite has some scant information on Grover or Glover Banton. Go to familysearch.org and click on search and enter whatever info you have. I have only recently begun research on Bantons but it appears that Grover/Glover is my gggrandfather. I would love to know if you are having any success and am happy to share what I have. Good luck.

I think it was somewhere between Hixburg where Walkers Church is and Appamattox Courthouse It is mentioned in a deed of James Walker, father of Agnes Walker Jones Lewis. If anyone has any data on this place or the families of Walker and Lewis. please write me or this board.

I am interested in knowing if you have any descendants of Rev. Anthony James HICKS & Tabitha MAXEY, the d/o Rev Charles MAXEY & Anne BONDURANT. Thanks, Ruby Talley Smith
Does anyone have any info on a Hickerson Hicks/Hix b. sometime in middle 1700's who is thought to be the father of Anthony James Hicks and Josiah Stephen Hicks? I've seen the name in Buckingham census and also that he purchased land from a Joseph Benning in 1807, but can find nothing further about him - who he married and if he had other children? Thanks so much for any help. Marsha Thurman
Was she married to John Raikes? There was a Virginia Drake married to John Raikes that died in child-birth in 1936, so I'm told.

Looking for information about a John Butler born about 1745 in Buckingham, VA He witnessed the will of Archelaus Wheeler who was also of Buckingham, VA Will is recorded in Adair County, Virginia in 1831. Archelaus' child and grandchild's middle name was Butler. Trying to determine if his wife Mildred, may have been a sister to or a relative of John Butler. Some researchers have said that Mildred was a LYLE. I have found no documentation for that.
