    3. Gary, Yes, there is a way to block these, but I don't think we really want to block the majority of these gateway posts from the lists. True, some (like the one you show below), don't belong on the VABUCKIN board as they show no connection to the county. But, as I am not the Board administrator, I don't have the authority to remove them. I personally feel that there is more benefit to leaving these posts gatewayed than there is problems when they aren't relevant. But, since the majority of my research is elsewhere, I will bow to the wishes of the list members, but one member cannot alone decide the fate. If others wish to either close the gateway or keep it open, then please send me your votes off list. I will take votes for the next week and a half. Votes will be tallied up and a decision made on Saturday, September 1st. But, in order for this to be fair, there should be votes from at least 25% of the list members. There are 225 subscribers to this list as of right now. That means that I need to hear from at least 57 people for this vote to mean anything. If I don't get at least 57 votes, then the gateway will remain on at this time. -- Mary Taffet List Admin for VABUCKIN [who has just returned from a short vacation and just saw this message] "Gary W. 3. Does anyone on this list have access to the 1784-1787 tax lists for Buckingham County? Someone kindly sent me information on my ancestor Abraham Sutlef/ Setliff being on the 1784-1787 tax list, but neglected to mention if it was in Buckingham Co. VA where he shows up on an old account book, for the years 1802-03, kept by John Epperson at his tobacco warehouse and general store on the Appomattox River, Buckingham County, Va, at the settlement called Planterstown. The person who sent me the information was very ill and no longer is online. All I need is verification that Buckingham County is the right county where he is listed. I would like to hear from anyone working on the Setliff/Sutliff line. Carol Setliff

    3. I am trying to locate the parents of my gggrandfather, Elijah Blankenship, b: abt. 1795. I believe he is in the Ralph Blankenship lineage but have been unable to find the connection. The first time I found him was in the Buckingham 1850 census, age 55. His wife's name was Nancy(?), age 55. Their children were Julia, Richard S., Sarah, Leonard C., Linvill E., Parthena, Susan, Walker S. and Charles. They also show up in the Buckingham 1860 census, Dist. #2, New Canton. The next time I found Elijah was in the Buckingham 1880 census, age 86....living with his daughter, Martha A. Taylor, age 58...her daughters, her grandson and a servant. NOTE: Martha was not listed in the 1850 census probably because she had already married. Would also like to find Nancy's maiden name, their marriage date, and death info on both. Is there anyone living in Buckingham that has access to any of this info? Thanks in advance for any help. Janice Blankenship Jackson
