    1. [VABUCKIN] Elizabeth Hales married Matthias Ayres
    2. Rob Ayres
    3. I have been researching Matthias Ayres of Henrico, Goochland, Albemarle and eventually Buckingham County. He was born about 1700 and died about 1782 in Buckingham County. He married Elizabeth Hales about 1740. She died about 1818 in Buckingham County. I was looking through "The Complete Book of Emigrants 1607-1776" in the volume titled " The Complete Book of Emigrants in Bondage" and found the following entry - Hales, Elizabeth. Sentenced to transportation February Transported 14 years May 1740 Essex, London. Does anyone know if this is her ? I interpret this to mean that she was 14 years old in 1740, was sentenced for some crime in February 1740, and shipped out of the port of London in May 1740. Does anyone know how to interpert this ? Does anyone know how to check Essex 1740 court records? I can be reached at [email protected] Rob Ayres Rob Ayres

    3. Brenda, I must admit that I personally don't know (though I'm sure somebody else does). But I can make a guess that the Buckingham Historic Newsletter must be a publication of the Buckingham Historical Society, which is called "Historic Buckingham". They publish a newsletter three times a year. Their website is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vahb/ If I'm wrong about this, I'm sure somebody will speak up and set the record straight. -- Mary Taffet List Admin for VABUCKIN [email protected] On Mon, 24 Sep 2001 [email protected] wrote: > What is the Buckingham Historic Newsletter? > > Thank you, Brenda > > > ============================== > Search over 1 Billion names at Ancestry.com! > http://www.ancestry.com/rd/rwlist1.asp > >
