    1. [VABUCKIN] HATCHER family in Buckingham Co. VA
    2. Wayne Hatcher
    3. Thanks Mary, The reason Buckingham Co. VA is special to me is because my GGGG grandparents were last living there when they left and came over to Barren Co. KY to live. This was around 1818. Barnett HATCHER owned land around the Slate River NE of the Courthouse. His wife was a lady whose first name was Susannah. Her father's given name was William. From court documents here in Barren Co. KY her last name looked to have been SLATUR or SLATOR or some form of that. Some researchers have suspected it might have been SLAUGHTER. But no records can be found to show that SLATUR or SLATOR lived in Buckingham Co. I have found several STATONS. I would like to find out who Barnett Hatcher's parents were. It is my goal to someday travel to Buckingham CO. VA. Any help or ideas would be greatly appeciated. There are several of us family members who are active in this research on Barnett & Susannah. Thanks for reading my message. Wayne Hatcher Barren Co. KY

My most wanted information from Buckingham County is to find the surname and then the ancestors of a lady with the given name of Francis who was born in Buckingham County. About 1837 she married John Calvin Reed Spears and moved to Nelson County. She appears to have also had family in Amherst County as she seems to have travelled there for the births of three of her six children between 1838 and 1853. Since the family homes that I have traced are in the following three areas of Nelson County, Fleetwood, Lovington and Fish Gap Mountain, there must have been a reason to travel for the births. My mother's oldest sister was named Emma Francis Spears in memory of this great grandmother. If the same convention was used as in the naming of my mother, then Emma is likely the given name of this Francis' mother. (My mother was named Virginia Lois Spears with the Virginia being to honor her gg grandmother Richardson and Lois to honor the great grandmother Richardson. Any leads appreciated. 3. Well, since there is not ONE thing, but many things, that is why I posted it so generally. All are from the Buckingham Co, VA area. For example, some of the things I am trying to find are: Edmund Toney & wife Mary ?....who were Edmund's parents? Did they have any other children besides Pleasant F. Toney b. Abt. 1810 d.12/5/1890 married Sarah B. Harvey Willis Wade Newton & wife Nancy Catherine Guthrie...who were Willis' parents? John Asa Dunkum line....would like to know more going further back...have his father as Benjamin Dunkum b. 1772, and Benjamin's father as John Dunkum, Sr.b. 12/28/1748, and John's father as Benjamin Duncomb...where did the Duncomb come from? (In most cases, when the spelling of the name changed it was when they came to America from elsewhere..would like to know where family comes from) Those are my three "biggies" right now since all are my great, great grandparents. I have info from those points to present...just trying to fill in the blanks further back. Thanks, Sheri ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mary D. 3. Sheri, In order to make this work, we really need to know what ONE thing you really want to know. Pick one person (not three family grounps), one or more facts about that person that you want to know, and ask away! Obviously if you were seeking a marriage record or notice, you would have at least two family lines represented. -- Mary Taffet List Admin for VABUCKIN [email protected] "Sheri T. 1. [VABUCKIN] My wish: Info on death & burial place of Peter MOSES
    2. Mary D. Taffet
    3. My one most sought after piece of information relating to Buckingham County is this: When & where did my gggg-grandfather, Peter MOSES, die, and where is he buried? Peter Moses (1751 to ~1830) came to Buckingham County from Pikeland Township, Chester County, PA circa 1783. He bought land in Buckingham County in 1792, as evidenced by the land deed on file at the Library of Viriginia (searchable via their Digital Library, see http://eagle.vsla.edu/lonn/). His father, Adam Moses, died in Chester County, PA, in 1792 sometime prior to March 22nd; perhaps Peter purchased the land in Buckingham County with the money he was given via his father's will. The land purchased was next to that of a Joseph BRADLEY. Peter's second wife was Mary BRADLEY (or so I'm told; no evidence to support that at this time); the fact that Peter was living next to a Joseph BRADLEY gives credence to this possibility. Peter was a Lutheran in Chester County, but I'm not sure what church he might have been involved with in Buckingham County. His daughter was married by a Rev. Samuel Davidson, who I think I have asked about before. It's my understanding that a lot of the records in the area of Buckingham county were burned during the Civil War, though I could (hopefully...) be wrong on that point. What records exist, if any, that might pinpoint the grave of my Peter MOSES? -- Mary Taffet List Admin for VABUCKIN [email protected]
