    1. [VABUCKIN] TONEY mentioned in Valentine Papers
    2. Mary D. Taffet
    3. Hello subscribers, Recently there was a message asking about Edmund TONEY. I am a subscriber to Ancestry.com, and just noticed that one of today's new databases is the Valentine Papers. I did a search for WOODSON (one of my surnames) and saw a TONEY show up in the results. So I just redid the search for TONEY, and see that there are several mentions of the TONEY family, including a couple of mentions of Edmund TONEY. The TONEY family shows up in the following sections of the Valentine papers: -- BACON family (Powhatan County) -- BALLARD family (Bedford County) -- MOSBY family (Cumberland County) -- PLEASANTS family (Cumberland County) -- PLEASANTS family (Powhatan County) -- RANDOLPH family (Powhatan County) -- WOODSON family (Powhatan County) -- WOODSON family (marriage bonds) I know that Cumberland County is close to Buckingham County, but I'm not sure about the other counties mentioned. -- Mary Taffet List Admin for VABUCKIN [email protected]

    3. Janice: I don't have any Watson information as recent as the Civil way - nunca!4 The onloy Nancy I have is Nancy W. Watson b. 20 Jan 1793 in Buckingham Co. VA Her parents were William Watson b. ca 1755 VA and Fanny Wilkerson. b. ca 1760 VA (probably in Powhatan Co.). She maried Guerrant Perrow who lived in the Slate River Dist. B'ham Co. They had child Daniel Watson Perrow. This William Watson Sr. had REv. WAr service and is DAR established by me. This is my husband's line, not mine Willialm Watson Sr. and Fanny Wilkerson had children: James b. April 1780 Wilkinson b. 28 July 1782, Polly b. 14 Sep 1784, William (Jr.) b. 8 Oct 1786, George b. 28 Mar 1789, Daniel b. 14 Mar 1791, Nancy W. b. 20 or 28 Jan 1793, Thomas G. b. 28 June 1795, Powhatan, 6? Sep 1797, Carolline b. 27 Oct 1799 The above are from Bible Records and once in a while a letter or digit is illegible. Wilkinson Watson b 1782 m on 21 Apr 1820 Mary "Polly" Gillilam and they had child Willilam JLames Watson b. 4 Jan 1821 in B'ham, who m. Martha Druscilla Roach b. 1826 d. 1895, on 4 Oct 1843; Wm. J. d. 20 Jan 1800 Charlotte Co. Va Understalnd Wilkinson and "Polly" had several children. Powhatan Watson b. 6 Sep 1797 B'ham Va d. about Nov 1866 at 69 yrs Oregon Co Missouri (there's a will) Powhatan m. Sarah F. Roabinson b. ca 1797 VA - I have 8 children for them. I could go on and on but don't find another Nancy. If you could find a way to safely get your address (P.O.) to me I could copy my family group sheets and send to you. She's probably too recent for me to have anything on her. And, then again, this may not be your Watson line at all. But the idea that she went to Powhatan Co. could possibly mean she wanted to go back to her ancestors' places. One of my wishes would be to find the correct Bartlett Davis and his wife Lucy's maiden name. He died c. 1818. Their daughter Judith married Matthew Cox before 1830. Were there two Bartlett's or one with two marriages? Ann Fissel [email protected]

    1. Re: [VABUCKIN] Looking for Old Church built in 1810
    2. You are talking about Cumberland Baptist Church (Jenkins Church). It is the oldest organized Baptist church in Cumberland Co. John DUNKUM was my direct ancestor. Joseph JENKINS was his son-in-law. They were the first trustees. Joseph JENKINS was a carpenter as well as a preacher. He built the original log building in 1810 that served the church for 40 years. Since 1969 annual homecoming services are held on the 4th Sunday in August. I do not think there are services any other time. The church is located on Rt 624, also called Jenkins Church Road. You can get to Rt 624 from Rt 45 (Cartersville Road). Ruby Talley Smith

    3. My Christmas wish is to find the parents of William Boatright and Caroline Boatright. Caroline was born in 1806 and they are the parents of my Martha E. Boatright Inge. I would also love to know how William Perrow is connected to the Inge family and more about the whole mystery of Ossie (Ocy) Inge and her children. Her son Thomas was supposedly killed by falling out of the back of a truck in the late 20s or early 1930s. He is my great Uncle. This is my most mysterious family line. She married a man from Buckingham County--Elisha Bryant son of Austin Bryant from New Canton. They moved to Kentucky around 1824 and raised a family there. The family eventually relocated to Texas and points out west. Her brother married and settled in the New Canton area of Buckingham County and that is where my branch decesded from.
