The book of Mrs Susie Edgar hoped from all the information that she might be able to sort all the Trotters and put them together. " This in not true". August 23, 1943 Dated 1882 Taken from the papers of my Grandfather, William B. Trotter. This letter was sent to James M. Trotter, M.D.of Florida. This is to show the genalogical history of William B. Trotter who is the son of George W.Trotter, [ William] who married Miss Sarah Hagsett, [ last name may be misspelled, writeing small on origional letter], of Bagle County Ky., He was the son of BenjamineTrotter and wife who was Mary Brown; they were married in Gilford County, North Carolina. Benjamin Trotter was burried at Surana Corburn County, Indiania. He was the son of James E. and Racheal Trotter of North Carolina, James E. He died and was burried in North Carolina. His wife died and was burried in Rutman County, Indiania. James E. Trotter was the son of William Trotter of Scotland, who married Miss Caroline Hill of England. They both moved to Virginia, here in the United States. William Trotter was burried on the Banks of the James River, in North Carolina. His wife died and was burried in North Carolina. William and Caroline Trotter were survived by, three children, James, Phillip and Nancey Trotter. William Trotter was said to have desended from the Earl of Garvey in Scotland. [ There was no trace of a Earl of Garvey in Scotland, so I take it to be mispelled, there is a Earl of Gowerie, which has connections to the Ruthven line] [The spelling is the same & not taken out of context] The lawsuit was in late 1883-1888 with the Estate of Dr Thomas Trotter M.D. in Scotland. We think William and Caroline went back to England to claim it. If they did they came back to America. Brenda Compton Greenville, S.C. Fax: 1-864-2353237 E-mail; bmcomppton@juno.com
