Jeanette, There are two possible reasons. 1) They are Cocke descendants or 2) Since the Cocke family was one of the early Virginia families and very prominent, it was to honor that family. Similarly I have found a number of George Washington's, Thomas Jefferson's and even James Pinkney's, all of which honor those people.
