One of my ancestors was named William Cocke Partin b. abt 1708 VA. His parents were Robert Partin III and Elizabeth Rawlings. Does anyone know why "Cocke" was in his name? Or if his wife was a "Stith" since several of their children were named with "Stith" names? Thank you for any assistance! Glad to compare notes!
