This Indenture made this 29th Day of December 1790 BETWEEN Charles Lucas and his wife Martha of the County of Brunswick of the one part Lemon Shell of the same County of the other part . . . for and in consideration of six hundred pounds . . . doth hereby bargain sell alien enfeoff and confirm unto the said Lemon Shell . . . one certain tract or parcel of land and premises containing four hundred and seventy four acres . . . lying and being in the County of Brunswick aforesaid and on the South side of Great Creek and bounded as followeth to wit BEGINNING on the Great Creek at Thomas Boswell line thence along Boswells line to Harrison's line thence along Harrisons line to Jacksons line thence along Jackson's line to Wm. Murrells line thence along Murrills line to the Great & thence down the said Great Creek to the BEGINNING being all of that tract of land which the said Lucas holds or possesses in the aforesaid County of Brunswick containing by estimation four hundred and sev! enty five acres . . . F. 28 F VA 24 161 161 SHELL Nancy 77 F VA (Rebecca Carroll was d/o Lemon Shell and brother of Pleasant) Brunswick County, Virginia Deed Book 17, page 253: This Indenture made this twenty first day in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand seven hundred ninety eight Between Lemon Shell of the county of Brunswick of the one part and Francis Rainey of the county of Mecklenburg of the other part Witnessth that the said Lemon Shell for an ___ consideration of the sum of one hundred & fifty three pound current money of Virginia to him in hand paid thge receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge himself to __ fully & entirely Satisfy therewith hath granted bargained sold aliened released & conformed they these presents doth for himself & his heirs grant bargain sell alien release & confirm unto the said Francis Rainey & to his heirs and asigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing by actual survey two hundred & four acres be the same more or less lying in the county of Brunswick on west branch of Popular creek & bounded as follows,to wit, Begining at a persimon tree in the head of a small branch in William Shells! line thence down the said branchas it meanders to west Branch Thence down west branch as it meanders to John Shells corner maple on the same, Thence along his line one hundred & fourteen pole to a scrub oak in Morrison line thence along his line Sixty Six poles to a white oak thence along his line Seventy poles to a willow oak near a small branch thence down the said branch as it meanders to heeths branch thence up heeths branch to a black burch Thence a new line North Sixty Degrees east one hundred & ninety two poles to the begining To have & to hold the afforesaid Tract of land with aa the improvements woods, waters & water courses thereon Standing growing and being with all the profits commodities advantages & appurtenances to the same belonging or any wise appertaining and also the recisien & reversions and remainder and remainders thereof & every part & parcel thereof with their _ every of their appurtenances unto the the * said Francis Rainey & to his heirs & assigns ! forever & he the said Lemon Shell for himself and his heirs doth covenant and agree to & with the said Francis Rainey his heirs & asigns that he & they may at all times hereafter hold & enjoy the said granted land & premises free from all incumbrances whatever all former Sales gifts morgages wrights of Dower & he the said Lemon Shell his heirs and asigns shall & wit warrent & forever defend the bills of the said _____ land and premises with their appurtenances __ the only proper use & _____ of them the said Francis Rainey & his heirs & asigns forever against all & every other person or persons that shall or may at any time hereafter bring any claim or claims against the said granted land & premises in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal day and date above written.
