    3. I am seeking information on John JONES,CR, b. ca.1750, son of Thomas JONES. I have been told there is a plack in the Brunswick Co. courthouse dedicated to him. Can someone in the area verify that and tell me what it says? Faye in TX cnfb@281.com

    3. Faye, I went to the courthouse to inquire the information you are seeking. No one knew of any John Jones or a plaque. Can you tell me any more about this person? Was he a judge, etc.? I checked the clerk's office, both courts. I was told to look in the museum located beside the old court building. That it could be there. So I will try there. They are only open certain hours. I saw a Ligon Jones, but on John Jones. That does not mean there is no plaque. I will continue to look. What does the CR mean? Miranda, I received the information I was looking for on this one from a descendant of this particular John Jones. However, he was not "mine". I think she said the plaque is on the courthouse, maybe outside, this was regarding his Rev. War service, I believe. He was called "Hell Cat Jones". My John Jones was the son of Thomas Jones. They both used the initials CR after their name. That stood for "Crooked Run" which is a creek in Brunswick Co. and ran through their land. There are several postings on the Brunswick Co. website on US Gen Web which mention these two men and "Crooked Run". Faye
