Hi, Someone sent me the following excerpt from a will filed in Brunswick County, VA. Could anyone shed any light on this family? Could they be Penningtons? Will of Agness (x) PILKINTON 18 Sep 1794 22 Dec 1794 Of St Andrews Parish - 'weak and low' To my brother Willis PILKINTON To my brother Richard PILKINTON mare to Nancey PILKINTON To my sister Tabitha EDWARDS Wit: William Thos PENNINGTON, Burwell ABERNATHY, Benjamin DAVIS Thanks, Shaunta
I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who responded to my earlier apology regarding the Archives. You have all been SO supportive!!! It really means alot to me. I would have preferred to answer you all individually, but there were so MANY responses!!! I did want to answer a couple of questions that I received though. Yes, I do take care of the archives on a volunteer basis, and I continually stretch myself to take care of as many counties as I can because I, like you, want to make sure that new files do continue to be uploaded and that the counties are cared for. Sometimes I have the time & energy to do a fantastic job updating the pages on a timely basis, and sometimes, I just don't have what it takes. But all in all, I love taking care of the Archives and watching them grow. I think it's a wonderful way to volunteer my time & hope I'll be able to continue to do so for a very long time. I have completed the uploads for July, minus a couple of small changes that need to be made and also minus the scanned documents. My next goal is to complete those & then I'll move on to the new files received in August. Then I will send notification to the individual county lists for all the new files uploaded during July & August. After that, I will start work on organizing some new counties that I have adopted. Once those pages are updated, I'll subscribe to the mailing lists for those counties & notify the folks there that the counties now have a new archivist who will TRY to post new files on a timely basis :) I'm sure those folks will be happy as I don't believe those counties have had anything new posted in quite some time. Once again, thanks so much for your support and all your kind words!!! It's good to know that there are real people out there (and nice ones too!) that are benefiting from my time & effort. Thanks again, you're the best!!! I just wanted to take this time to apologize to everyone for how far behind I have fallen with the Archives. This has been one heck of a summer :) But it's been fun, just extremely busy. I have updated the WV counties with files recieved during July, so those are already online for you to see. I am now working on the Virginia Counties. The first update I do will be for files rcvd in July, so if you've sent a file in August, it won't be on this update. I need to finish one month before I begin on another. My youngest just started kindergarten and I haven't started back to work yet, so next week I plan to spend getting everything all caught up. Assuming nothing goes wrong, I should have time to get it all done. Thank you all for your patience with me :) Also, I have inherited three new counties in Virginia and will begin working on those web pages after I have finished my work on the counties I have pending files for. Those counties are Goochland, Henrico, and Hanover. So be thinking of anything that you'd like to submit for those counties and soon I'll be posting new files there as well. Thanks again for all of you who have supported me and the archives. I hope to be more prompt in the future :) Jeannie ************* Now Available: "The Descendants of John Thomas Clay, Jamestown Immigrant and son of Sir John Clay of Wales" Also available: "The Descendants of James Bailey & Lucy Simms" For more info: http://www.trellis.net/users/madamx
Hi, I'm new to the list and I am posting hoping someone out there knows SOMETHING about my Wilsons! I have been banging against this brick wall for a year now and it's really getting frustrating,LOL! Here's what I have: Thomas Wilson, Sr. born 1699 in Surry County, Virginia. He married Amy "Ann" Irvin(Urvin), daughter of Captain Nathaniel Irvin March,1727. I have one known son, Thomas Wilson, Jr. born about 1735 in Brunswick County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth McLin in 1758 in Brunswick County, Virginia. I have several children listed for Thomas,Jr. and Elizabeth. I have one known brother for Thomas, Sr.; Nathaniel born in Surry County in 1700. I have found copies of land grants for both brothers that show they owned land in Brunswick and Surry Counties. If anyone out there knows WHO their parents were, I will be eternally greatful. I have been told my Wilsons were Scotch-Irish and I would really like to be able to find some distant cousins when I journey to Ireland in September. Well, that's it! If anyone thinks we're a match, please let me know!=) Thanks! Debra Skripkunis _______________________________________________________ Say Bye to Slow Internet! http://www.home.com/xinbox/signup.html

I would very much like to have information about the Gholson family in Brunswick Co, and/or adjacent counties, prior to 1800. Can anyone help me? Ed Baldwin
Ancestry has online the birth records of Brunswick Co. but they don't go back far enough for the person I'm looking for. I need records for 1808-1810. If anyone can find the birth record for Tinsey Winn or Tinsey Winn Thomas in 1808-10 I would very much appreciate it. I'm trying to find her parents names. Her father might be Thomas Wynn/Winn or Winn Thomas. Thanks. Charlotte A.
Could anyone recommend a good book or two about Fort Christanna? Thanks! Best wishes, Pat Elder "I care not much for a man's religion whose dog and cat are not the better for it." Can anyone tell me if the Zebeedee RAY who appears in Shelby County, Indiana 1840, 50 & 60 is the uncle of Hix Jones RAY born 1798 Brunswick County, VA? Hix Jones RAY's father was Nathaniel RAY JR. who died in Allen County, KY 1823. His grandfather was Nathaniel RAY / WRAY Sr. and Hix's great grandfather was John WRAY who died in Brunswick Co, VA 1774 and left a will .. Family legend states that Hix Jones RAY had an uncle Zebeedee RAY and this is the only one I have ever found. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Estates/4375/dadlist.html Lots of RAY information here! Does anyone have any info on William KING. He was in Brunswick in the 1730's. Sarah was the dau of John Cook and wife Dianna. Thanks for help on this line. Regards, Christina
I have a "lost" ancestor in old Brunswick Co who is seeking his parents. He is Thomas BLICK who died there in 1773 and was married to Mary Birchett, dau of Robert Birchett. Will share BLICK information (also Birchett). Thanks, Margaret Stroud (new lister in Norfolk, Va)
Have you ever felt like your ancestors were helping you in your research? Have you ever wondered if they wanted to be discovered? Have you ever had anything truly amazing or miraculous happen during your research? Well, if so, you are not the only one! But until now, there hasn't been anywhere to talk about it, so I decided to create a place! Would you like to be the first to post on my new forum? If so, visit http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cuzn/ for details and then follow the link to the forum at http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/Special/DivineGuidance It's a GenConnect forum, so you're probably already familiar with how it works. I hope to hear lots of great stories! Thanks for your time, Jeannie ************* Now Available: "The Descendants of John Thomas Clay, Jamestown Immigrant and son of Sir John Clay of Wales" Also available: "The Descendants of James Bailey & Lucy Simms" For more info: http://www.trellis.net/users/madamx
