Nathaniel Harrison, son of Gabriel Harrison of Brunswick Co., VA. was born about 1718 in Prince George Co., Va. He married Olive (possibly Smith or King) in August 1745 in Brunswick County. Nathaniel died 1796 in Brunswick and Olive died about 1803. Nathaniel and Olive are my 6th great Grandparents. Children are as follows: Ann married Unknown Smith Charles, born about 1746 - 1747, married as his second wife Elizabeth "Betsey" Glandish/Gladdish, May 26, 1801, Brunswick Co., VA Polly married Unknown Smith Gabriel, born about 1750, married Sarah Ann Blick about 1770, Brunswick Co., VA Cuddy, born about 1752, married Elizabeth Harrison on January 29, 1778, Brunswick Co., VA Olive, born about 1757, married Stephen Smith of Brunswick Co. (my 5th great Grandparents, May 25, 1778, Brunswick Co., VA. Family #2 - Charles King died 1808 in Brunswick Co., VA. He was apparently married more than once. 1800 census records indicate that his last wife was living as of that time, but died prior to his death in 1808. The will of Charles King lists 10 children as follows: 1. Ann 2. Charlotte 3. Elizabeth married Daniel Connelly on December 31, 1799 in Brunswick Co. 4. James 5. Miles 6. Olive 7. Molly married John Abernathy on April 25, 1814, Brunswick Co., VA. 8. Rebecca 9. Lewis is believed to have married Rebecca Birdsong, March 21, 1785 in Brunswick Co., VA **One abstract is transcribed as "Lewis" and the other as "Levi" - believed to be Lewis. 10. Dorothy "Dolly", born about 1763 in Brunswick Co., Va. and married Seth Turbiville/Turbyfill on April 8, 1784 in the same county. I am looking for information on a Mike Lane Georgel who may have had a restaurant in Roanoke Rapids, NC around 1920. We believed he was Greek because of family rumors and because his son's birth certificate indicates that is father, Mike Lane Georgel, was born in Gries. Another Georgel found that Gries is a place in Alsace Loraine, France so we're curious to know what this all means. We have been told by older members of our family that Georgel was shortened from Georgelous. Mike may have married Emma Eatrice Blick Edwards (from Greensville Co., VA, buried in Petersburg, VA) around 1922. Emma is the widow of Charles Maxie Edwards who is buried in Ebony, Brunswick County, VA. Emma and Charles had 2 children, Newton Maxie and Mildred Lucille. Emma and Mike had 1 child, Mary Ruth. They were all given the Georgel surname but Mary Ruth spells her last name Georgell. They seem to have floated between Brunswick Co, Dinwiddie and Roanoke Rapids, NC. Mike at one point may have owned a restaurant in Roanoke Rapids and was friends with a man named 'Pipenchello' or something that sounds like that that ran the Navigator's Den in Hopewell, VA. Greetings from a new Subscriber to this wonderful List. My name is Tom Thompson I live in Florida. Be sides being hooked on Genealogy I am also quite hooked on Wood Carving. My G-grandfather Thomas J. Thompson 1867-1936 was born in Brunswick Co. In the area of Lawrenceville. His father was born in Virginia and his mother may have been born in Maryland. I acquired this information from the 1900 and 1910 Federal Census for Cincinnati, Ohio. My G-grandfather walked out of the, "Hills of Virginia," and saw his first town at the age of 17 yrs. We also have a Thompson family tale of the Civil War, that a Thompson father and son fought on one side and the other son fought on the other side all three were at the, "Battle of Gettysburg" the one son fought in," Picket's Charge" and the father and other son were on the side of the North at the top of the Ridge. Knowing how distant family stories go the sides could be reversed? Thomas J. Thompson settled in Cincinnati, Ohio and married Kate Engelhardt in 1895. In 1896 they had their first son he was named Joseph (Josie) Albert Thompson. I am looking for any and all information on the Thompson families of Lawrenceville, Brunswick Co. VA. Hello, I've just begun working on the 1820 Brunswick County census records, and I cannot understand a notation beside some of the names. Written next to the name is a capital F & and a capital N (F.N.). There are no numbers enumerating people of the household next to each name that has the F.N. notation. The whole line is blank. Also, in the late 1700s, at what age was a young lady considered to be a "spinster." Below is the marriage bond of my 3rd Great Grandparents: "Stephen Smith and Olive Harrison, spinster, daughter of Nathaniel Harrison, who consents. May 25, 1778. Hello, I'm new to the list and in search of information about my 6g grandfather, Cuthbert Smith. Cuthbert appears to have been married to a couple of Elizabeths (Elizabeth Chamberlain/Chamberlayne) and Elizabeth Washington who was previously married to a Sampson Lanier). I've not been able to sort out the Elizabeths or which children are from which Elizabeth. The children's names are Charles, Stephen, John, James, Frederick, Benjamin, Sally, Lucy, Mary, Susanna, Anne, Elizabeth, and France. My line descends from the above James and I'd be interested in any information about James also, particularly, the name(s) of his wife.......I've reason to believe that he was married more than once.
