A correction: Samuel Montgomery's daughter was Winnie Yardley Montgomery; she is shown as Yardley Montgomery in the 1870 census of Ritchie Co. WV. Where is the PROOF that Hugh & Samuel were sons of William? There is a Hugh Montgomery Sr. in the census of Ohio Co. WV and a Samuel Montgomery there in 1810. During the Civil war several members of the Montgomery & Pursley families took refuge in WV; perhaps because they had kin there???
