Surnames: NICELY/GOHEEN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/GBC.2ACI/1020.2 Message Board Post: I think it would be worth you while to search Chester County in the 1770's and forward as John Goheen signed the Oath of Allegience to the new government of the "country" on 19th of August, 1777; most of the Quakers and other Wigg supporters were kicked out of Philadelphia (especially if they were prominent persons) and expelled to Virginia. It is likely the trail of John will show his son William and the family in the same tax lists as the Nicely family of Frances in the 1785-1800 taxes and census for PA and Virginia. Haven't found any Frances in my files but will do a quick check in the tax lists
