    1. [VABOTETO-L] St. Peter's
    2. John and Barbara Ekiss
    3. This earlier message copied below of special interest. Henrich Ickes arrived on Queen Elizabeth 16 Sept 1738. 30 yrs. later in the 1790's his son Michael moves from York Co. PA to live near this same group of people. My theory, the two groups knew each other in the old country and probably there is also some family connection. I know that Pepper, Price and Wall were close neighbors of his in VA. Does the name Ekiss, Ickes or various spellings of each turn up in anyone's genealogy or the families of the ship landing 5 Sept.? Are the records of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheraon Church for the 1790-1810 published? Thanks Barb Also, I have a poor copy of a photo of a stone marker in Virginia which reads: "SITE OF ST PETER'S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH 1750 - 1885." "St Peter's Was The First Church West Of The Alleghenies And The Third Lutheran Church In Virginia. It's Original Members Were Pioneers Who, Having Suffered Religious Persecutions, Had Come From The Palatinate In Germany To Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, September 5, 1738, Thence To And Around The Horse Shoe Bottoms On New River. This Monument Erected in 19?? Is In Memory Of These Sturdy God-Fearing Pioneers. Richard Haeven (Haeyener), Philip Harless, Adam Harman, Jacob Harman, Valentine Harman, Jacob Harnberger, Israel Laurton, Samuel Pepper, Augustine Price, Henry Price, Jacob Shell, Adam Wall (Wail?)." A committee of four of the above was named, but barely readable.
